Heart Surgery in India - Which Medical Reports Should You Send First?

Before you can be offered a treatment plan, a specialist needs to review your medical history. This short explains the key reports and scans you should prepare to send.

Initial medical reports

Your cardiac surgeon will first need to understand your current condition and medical history.

  • Recent medical summary. This should be from your local cardiologist or physician. It should detail your diagnosis, symptoms, and any treatments you have already received.
  • List of medications. Include the names and dosages of all medicines you are currently taking, including any for other conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure.
  • Blood test results. Important tests include a complete blood count (CBC), kidney and liver function tests, and a lipid profile.
  • Past procedures. Provide details of any previous heart-related procedures, such as angioplasty, stenting, or prior surgeries.

Essential cardiac scans and tests

Imaging and diagnostic tests allow the surgeon to see the structure and function of your heart.

  • Echocardiogram (Echo). This ultrasound scan shows how your heart's chambers and valves are working. The full report and images are needed.
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG). This test records the electrical activity of your heart and can show evidence of a previous heart attack or rhythm problems.
  • Coronary Angiogram. If you have had this test, the report and the CD or digital files of the images are very important. This shows any blockages in your heart's arteries.
  • Other relevant scans. Depending on your case, you may be asked for a chest X-ray, cardiac CT scan, or cardiac MRI. Send any that you have.

The exact reports required can vary from person to person. A final decision on your suitability for surgery can only be made after a cardiac surgeon has reviewed your individual case and recent medical records.

Send your reports for a free, no-obligation opinion from our Medical Team.
