It was almost a year ago when 49-year old, Mr. Bold Ulgiit started facing the initial health issues. The local hospital suggested some tests, including a Liver Test, which revealed that he was suffering Hepatitis C Virus. As the days passed, he started losing weight and became weak and he even started vomiting blood. Looking at this, the hospital in Mongolia where he went for initial check-ups, recommended a Liver Transplant. they also told them Bold’s daughter could be the perfect match for him.
But it is unfortunate that even today such advanced Liver surgeries are missing in Mongolia. But the family came to know that Fortis Hospital in India has performed several Liver Transplants and the success rate is very high too. Without wasting further time, his daughter connected with Fortis Hospital in Noida and came to India. At Fortis, their case was handled by one of the most efficient hands, Dr. Vivek Vij, who is extremely renowned for his proficiency in handling the rare cases of Liver Transplants. With over two decades of experience, he is also known for his very appreciable success rate. He says that Liver Transplant is a supra-major procedure and takes about 10-16 hours depending on the severity of the condition. In fact, out of 100, there are chances of 2-3 would fail.
Dr. Vij found that Mr. Bold’s bilirubin was very high, had water deposit in his abdomen and had a history of infections. Mr. Bold needed only two blood transfusions which according to Dr. Vij is great. Post-surgery, he was looked after in the Liver Transplant ICU, where he had a smooth recovery.
